welcome to
SERMI
Our hands have been making for as long as we can remember.
We are seeing a decline in making and an increase in fading tradition - imagination and creativity replaced by productivity and convenience.
Sermi is a learning collective built to prioritize critical thinking development through creative identity, body wisdom, practical responsibility, and ancestral preservation.
Where the Heart of Sermi Lives-
Our mission is to investigate the knowledge that lives within the body through making, research, and community projects.
The thread underneath all of our work is deeper listening ~ to act from true honesty and magnetism rather than from what you “think” you should be doing.
“Our vitality as a society lies in carrying forward healthy systems. But first, it is important to retrace our roots, identify what worked and what did not, and be willing to be with change rather than simply sticking to rigid structures that dull our free will.”
Lilit, Founder of Sermi

It’s name, an Armenian word, translating to of the seed ~ encompassing the idea that learning is more of a constantly evolving ecosystem rather than a one size fits all. It reminds us that, together, we can cultivate a deeply authentic experience.
Here, we explore the possibility of experimenting with what the mind has not yet been given language for.
What you search for, you already carry…
EMERGENT LEARNING TECHNIQUES
Think about your first encounter with books, classrooms, and credentialed people.
Most of what you were taught required you to sit still and listen.
Emergent learning works the other way around. You move. You make. You follow small threads in the body.
Where in your childhood were you taught to ignore your intuition and follow instructions?
Did you ever have an opportunity to explore creative mediums without the pressure of being graded or assessed? Maybe you were placed in special classes or given medication for your difficulty with attention?
It is possible you were simply experiencing a way of learning that failed to respect your natural instincts.
Each session is a different entry point into the same question: can deep listening and experimentation reveal a natural intelligence I did not realize I had?
SENSE.
What you are looking for has been with you the whole time.
Sermi is where you are reminded to approach it with deeper listening, curiosity, and engaged senses.
REDEFINE.
Culture extends beyond what is taught. It is lived through the body.
Here you develop your own language which leaves you with a new found closeness to others and to yourself.
EMERGE.
Curiosity becomes community.
Your questions find others holding the same ones, and what you arrive at together moves beyond what any one person could reach alone.
"Even in the face of profound or continuous change, a person can sustain themselves and adapt by recognizing their origins beyond their country of birth."
— Eliana Fanery, Lead Herbalist, Sermi
WHO IS SERMI FOR?
Someone who is not sleeping. Someone whose body is sending signals they do not know how to read. Someone whose creative life has gone quiet and who is starting to notice the impact that has on their ability to handle grief, rejection, and the weight of daily life.
Maybe someone craving community that does not ask them to perform wellness. Someone who has done therapy, hired a business coach, tried the yoga class and is still feeling restless at 2am.
What we all share is a willingness to show up and see what surfaces.
Each topic lives as a laboratory for investigation, for translating tradition, & for reconnection that lives beyond what we were originally taught.
Soon, we will begin to welcome in guest facilitators from various sectors of practice who prioritize emergent learning techniques — founding member collective TBA

Sessions cover cultural identity, herbal medicine, weaving and textile traditions, chronic disease, sound and breathwork, somatic creativity, nervous system practices, experience design, diaspora and fragmented knowledge, and lifestyle patterns rooted in cultural heritage.
